Wildwood Farm, an 80-acre horse facility on Whidbey Island, in Washington State is launching a number of new programs that include a "start/retraining" regimen for horses and a finishing/showing program for horse & riders at all skill levels. These new offerings are for horse owners that are interested in developing their horses to the fullest potential, and for bringing together the rider and horse to co-create a winning show experience. Expert horse trainer Quinton DesFountain will oversee the start/retaining program while wife and business partner, Danielle DesFountain, will engage horse owners and their horses in a training program that takes the pair to a high level of co-performance whether it be at the barn or on the show circuit, winning local, regional or national awards. While a horse is being started or retrained for undesirable habits Wildwood Farm will assure they receive exceptional care – including 4 feedings per day, turn in and turn out daily, nutritional evaluation, expert care by horse handlers- and always gentle encouragement toward good behavior. Horses will be worked exclusively by Quinton and Danielle DesFountain as they apply their many years of experience to improve horse behavior and performance. Horses that are being boarded and trained for a longer period of time with specific goals to achieve will enjoy the same luxurious amenities and care program. Quinton DesFountain has been with horses all his life starting in South Africa as a boy showing saddlebreds. After 2 years in the Navy as a diver he moved to USA and began to work with Arabian Trainer Larry Lewis, Jr. and then for 2 years with Gene La Croix, also an Arabian trainer. While at the latter, Quinton started the multi-national champion Bey Berry Love. By 1995, Quinton opened his own training business, specializing in starting and retraining problem horses. He has trained most breeds, from Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Tennessee walkers, to Paso Fino's, Friesians, even mules! In 2000, he moved to Washington and worked at Fairchild Arabians as a trainer until 2003. He is credited with starting Multi National Champion JKF MacGregor while at Fairchild Arabians. Additionally, he trained the 2009 US National Top 10 AOTR HA English pleasure horse VSH First Lady and National Top 10 HA Country Horse Open and AAOTR JKF Noble Intentions. Quinton and Danielle became a team in 2002 after Danielle’s broad experience that included a move to Texas to work for LaCroix Ltd. and trainers Ray LaCroix, Tom Moore, and Rob Bick followed by nine years working for Mitch Sperte of Northstar Show Horses. At the end of 1999, Danielle opened her own business offering a lesson program for all riding levels as well as show and pleasure riding horses. She and her riders, many from the lesson program, earned regional and national titles in English, Country, Hunter, and Western Pleasure as well as Park, Show Hack and Side Saddle. Many National champions were produced such as LBA Class Action, Afire's Quintina, FS Easter Parade, and Soulful Strut, to name just a few. The joining of Danielle and Quinton into a team pulled together their past successes with horses and riders in and out of the show ring. Danielle will oversee lessons for Wildwood Farm for local youngsters and adults as well to kids in the classroom through a distance learning program that will commence in the fall. She enjoys teaching all disciplines and has brought many riders to the winner's circle at the regional and national level. To round out their offering, the DesFountain’s will also be offering a Sport Rehabilitation program for horses that are ready to regain their strength and level of fitness after recovering from lay-up due to an injury or medical procedure. Wildwood Farm welcomes Quinton and Danielle DesFountain.
